Peel Away the Old You

Kansas City Chemical Peels

Appearance is everything, and when it comes to vanity, the skin is the most important asset we have. A chemical peel is a healthy middle ground between surgery and a facial. Many patients who don’t require such extreme and invasive treatments may benefit from the perks and results of a chemical peel. Over time, the skin may be damaged in some spots on the surface that can be due to aging and/or exposure to elements. If you aren’t looking for surgery, but want something more effective than a facial, then a Kansas City chemical peel performed at Quinn Aesthetic Center may be the best bet for you.

About Chemical Peels

What is a Chemical Peel?

The chemical peel is one of the world's oldest and most original procedures. Practiced in Ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome, the chemical peel’s purpose remains evident: to provide a non-invasive, safe procedure that removes damaged layers on the skin's surface and restores collagen.

A chemical peel uses an acidic solution to remove the outer layer of skin and stimulate the production of new cells. The strength of the acids determines the depth of exfoliation. A series of three peels is usually recommended to achieve the best results.

Complexion Perfection

Am I a Good Candidate for a Chemical Peel?

Patients in good health that want to correct evidence of aging, have acne, or would like to make skin issues disappear are considered to be ideal candidates. Women who are pregnant or lactating or patients who have certain allergies are also not advised to undergo a chemical peel. Patients who are looking for the treatment for deeper wrinkles and skin laxity may also find an alternative treatment to be more beneficial. Those who don’t qualify for a chemical peel may be good candidates for alternative therapies, such as laser treatments and dermal fillers, among others. Our aesthetician will go over all other options with you at your consultation and will recommend the safest and most effective result that matches your needs.

A Fresh Start in Minutes

Your Chemical Peel Procedure and Treatment Areas

The average time for a chemical peel is usually 15-30 minutes. We will begin the procedure by cleansing the skin, and then we will apply the chemical peel solution to the treated area. The solution will then penetrate the skin, and you will be advised when to remove the peel. Once the solution is removed, you may feel tighter, and peeling may begin within 48-72 hours. Some patients require multiple chemical peel treatments to see the results they want.

Types of peels we offer

This chemical peel has a distinct combination of chemicals specifically designed to bring a healthy glow back to your face. Patients undergoing their first treatment are appropriate candidates for this mild yet effective treatment. Recommended uses:

After Your Procedure

Chemical Peel Recovery

Though it may be sooner, you can expect your skin to be pink for the next few days. Peeling can occur after a few days and is a normal part of the healing process. Staying out of the sun is recommended during the first three days. Wearing sunscreen at this time is paramount as well. In total, expect the full recovery process to take seven to ten days before your skin returns to normal. Our office is here to support you during the process. Feel free to express any concerns you may have about your peel.

Lasting Rejuvenation

Chemical Peel Results

Once the recovery process has done its part, a new layer of skin will appear. It is recommended to undergo the chemical peeling process every three to six months to continue to rejuvenate and reinvigorate your skin. The level of depth of your peel will affect your recovery time. In the long term, you will see a great improvement in skin texture and tone, with the glow you’ve always dreamed of. When it comes to getting the most from chemical peels Kansas City experts at Quinn Aesthetic Center will agree that they typically work best with three sessions, which ideally would occur once a month. Every patient is different, and therefore, every treatment should be treated on an individual basis. If more treatments are needed, our professional office staff will be happy to schedule multiple appointments that track your progress and recovery. We are here with you every step of the way so that you may reach your aesthetic vision and expectations.

  • Back
  • Legs

Chemical peels are ideal for patients who don’t want surgical or laser treatment but still want to improve the complexion and texture of their skin. The approach between chemical peels and laser treatments can differ in the following ways:

  • Chemical peels improve issues on the skin surface by removing the damaged top layer of the skin and exposing the new layer of healthy skin.
  • Chemical peeling is essentially a skin-shedding procedure, whereas laser treatments administer radio frequencies or light to stimulate collagen growth in the deep layers of the skin.
  • Chemical peels treat acne at moderate to severe levels, whereas laser treatments do not.
  • Chemical peels have provided flawless results but may require multiple treatment sessions, whereas laser treatments activate collagen growth and don’t promote skin shedding.

Despite their similar goals, chemical peels and treatments vary in their approach. Patients will be advised about the pros and cons of both of these procedures at the time of their consultation. Some patients may benefit more from either treatment, depending on their aesthetic goals and expectations.
